- ADA
- The Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990. The 2010 ADA Standards for Accessible Design govern parking-lot accessibility.
- TAS
- Texas Accessibility Standards — the state analog to ADA. Reviewed for Texas commercial properties.
- Van-Accessible Stall
- An accessible parking stall with an 8-foot access aisle for van lift deployment.
- Fire Lane
- A designated no-parking access lane maintained clear for emergency responders. Marked by red curbs and “Fire Lane No Parking” lettering.
- Sealcoat
- A protective asphalt-emulsion coating that extends pavement life 3–5 years and gives a black restripe-ready surface.
- Traffic Paint
- Water- or oil-based paint formulated for pavement adhesion and abrasion resistance.
- Thermoplastic
- A hot-applied plastic marking material used for high-durability lane lines and crosswalks.
- Stall
- A single parking space bounded by painted lines.
- COI
- Certificate of Insurance — evidence of general liability, auto, and workers’ comp coverage.
- Restripe
- Repaint an existing layout after fading or restriping obsolete lines.
- ROI
- Return on investment. Preventive maintenance ROI on parking lots is typically 4–6× over 10 years.
